Evidence for neighbouring universes found, claims scientific paper
The paper, submitted to Astrophysics Journal is here

"Spectral Variations of the Sky: Constraints on Alternate
Universes"

http://arxiv.org/pdf/1510.00126v1.pdf

Essentially, they found a sort of "glow" in the Cosmic Microwave Background (the radiation left over from the Big Bang) and think that it might be energy leaking in from another universe.

Note, the study says "unusual claims like evidence
for alternate Universes require a very high burden of proof. The detection of such spectral
variations in the sky at the location of CMB cold spots is an intriguing prospect. Translating
this tentative detection of 143 GHz excess to a definitive conclusion would benefit from deeper
observations at 100 and 217 GHz to reduce the uncertainty in the synchrotron foregrounds."

Essentially, that means they need more data to reach any firm conclusions but this is certainly another suggestion at alternative universes.

I'm not prepared to believe in them yet. More evidence needed.

Yes Darlo. Jumped all over by the deniers, sadly, yet again showing that they like to cherry pick the data and do not understand the science.

Well there's the universe includes time so anything outside it, be that "before" in another universe or "after" isn't relevant to our time, per se...probably.

I find it's helpful to stop thinking of time as linear when thinking about these concepts. We know time isn't linear, it just appears to be to us...most of the time.

Well, yes. It would be tricky to do that with no money at all.

it's only a turn of phrase. Neighbouring house, street, county, country, province, planet, galaxy, universe.

We only have this language to work with and a universe next to ours is neighbouring.

Re: Evidence for neighbouring universes found, claims scientific paper
So the universe is far from universal. And there was no time in the time before the big bang.

I think we need a new vocabulary.

I submit my own discovery: a land just charted, an expanse just discovered: the scenery of ale

Ive achieved my desired state: the zenith of pissedness. By 10pm. I crested the peak of saucy booze exactly 12 minutes ago. I feel like an explorer, an intrepid traveller in the tepid lands of wine.

Despite the fact this only involved opening my mush and swilling wine and scotch down it, i am nevertheless satisfied, at a good job done.

I have attacked all the sober regions of my brain and coated them in deviant boozy gravy. Planted the flag of wankered conquest.

In short sir, i am as fucking steeped in booze as an eager and industrious beaver who has constructed a gigantic river spanning dam of little twigs.

All available sense is gone. I swim in booze, I doggy paddle. I stroke mine breast sir

It's amazing to think there is out there an infinite number of universes which means that somewhere out there, there is a version of me which is currently nailing Scarlett Johansson.

If there was a 2012 then it suggests that the christian god might have made himself into his son as himself in human form and got himself killed as his son on a cross there too.
